Wondering what each permission prompt in the Stamper app is actually for?
The app requests Camera (required, to scan cards), Location (optional, to tag where a transaction happened), and Notifications (optional, for support updates) - saying no to Location or Notifications doesn't stop the app from working.
Before you start
When you'd need this: you denied a permission and now something doesn't work, or you want to understand a permission prompt before tapping Allow.
Where to change these: your Android device's own Settings app, not inside the Stamper app itself (see Steps).
Why this happens
Each permission maps to exactly one feature and is only used at the moment that feature runs - nothing is collected continuously or in the background.
What each permission is for
Permission | Required? | What it's for |
Camera | Required | Scanning QR codes. Without it: "Camera permission is required to scan QR codes." |
Location | Optional | Tagging where a stamp or redemption happened, controlled by Send GPS location in Settings → Card processing. Off by default. |
Notifications | Optional | Support notifications and app updates - not for messaging your customers. |
⚠️ Denied Camera more than once? Android stops asking automatically - you'll need to enable it manually via the steps below.
Steps
If you denied a permission and want to grant it later:
Open your Android device's Settings app.
Go to Apps → Loopy Loyalty Stamper → Permissions.
Tap the permission you want to change.
Select Allow.
Good to know
Location is only read at the moment a transaction completes - the app doesn't track location in the background between scans.
