Settings
Let's break down each of these settings in the Loopy Loyalty stamper app and explain their purpose, along with recommendations for their use.
To access settings:
Tap on the 'more' icon in the top right corner.
Tap on Settings
Authentication
Remain Logged In: This setting, when enabled, keeps the user logged into the Loopy Loyalty stamper app even after closing the app or restarting the device (within a certain timeframe). This eliminates the need to enter login credentials every time the app is opened, making it more convenient for frequent use.
Recommendation: Enabling this is generally recommended for single-user devices used by staff members. However, for shared devices or if security is a high concern, it might be better to disable this setting to require login each time, preventing unauthorized access.
Enable Face ID (or Touch ID):
This setting allows users to use biometric authentication (Face ID on iPhones or Touch ID on devices with fingerprint scanners) to log into the app. This provides a more secure and convenient login method than typing in a password.
Recommendation: Enabling this is highly recommended for added security and ease of use. It allows for quick and secure access to the app, reducing the risk of unauthorized access if the device is lost or stolen. It also simplifies the login process for staff.
Notes
If you do not want to be authenticated every time you switch to the app, turn off 'Enable Face ID' and keep 'Remain Logged In' toggled on.
When a Barcode is Scanned
Vibrate: This setting causes your device to vibrate briefly when a barcode is successfully scanned. This provides tactile feedback, confirming the scan was registered. It's helpful in noisy environments or when you're not looking directly at the screen.
Recommendation: Enable this to ensure you don't miss scans.
Beep: Similar to vibrate, this plays an audible beep sound when a barcode is scanned. It offers another form of confirmation.
Recommendation: Use either vibrate or beep, or both, depending on your preference and environment. If you find the beep annoying, stick with vibrate.
Copy to Clipboard: This copies the raw data from the barcode to your device's clipboard. This is useful if you need to paste the barcode data into another application, like a spreadsheet or database.
Recommendation: Enable this if you regularly need to use the barcode data elsewhere. It's not necessary for simply stamping loyalty cards.
Display Barcode Contents: This shows the decoded data from the barcode in a pop-up window on the screen. It allows you to visually verify that the correct barcode was scanned.
Recommendation: This is generally a good setting to enable, especially when starting out, as it helps ensure accuracy.
Automatically Open Links: If the barcode contains a URL (web address), this setting will automatically open that link in your device's web browser. This is particularly useful if you're using the scanner for purposes other than Loopy Loyalty, such as scanning QR codes for website links.
Recommendation: Disable this if you're only using the scanner for Loopy Loyalty cards, as it might be an unnecessary interruption. Enable it if you scan other types of barcodes that contain links.
Camera Settings
Use Front Camera: This toggles between using the front-facing camera (selfie camera) and the rear-facing camera for scanning. The rear camera is usually better quality for scanning.
Recommendation: Unless you have a specific reason to use the front camera (e.g., the rear camera is damaged), stick with the rear camera for optimal scanning performance.
Zoom Level Adjustment: This allows you to adjust the digital zoom level of the camera. This can be helpful for scanning barcodes that are far away.
Recommendation: Start with the default zoom and only increase or decrease it if you're having trouble scanning barcodes at a distance. Excessive digital zoom can reduce image quality and make scanning more difficult.
Card Processing
Vibrate When Stamping: This provides a vibration when a stamp is successfully applied to a customer's card. This gives tactile feedback, confirming the action.
Recommendation: Similar to the barcode scan vibration, this is helpful for confirmation and is generally recommended.
Confirm Transaction: This displays a confirmation screen before the stamp is applied, showing the transaction details (e.g., customer name, card type). This helps prevent accidental stamps or incorrect transactions.
Recommendation: This is highly recommended, especially in busy environments, to minimize errors and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Transaction Success Alert (show a successful transaction message): This displays a message on the screen confirming that the transaction was successful. It provides visual feedback in addition to the vibration.
Recommendation: This is helpful for training purposes or to reassure staff that the stamping process worked correctly. Consider enabling it, especially when first using the app.
Send GPS Location: This setting records the GPS coordinates of the device running the Loopy Loyalty stamper app when a stamp or reward is applied. This can be useful for tracking where the app is being used, which can indirectly suggest where loyalty cards are being stamped and rewards redeemed. This is particularly helpful if the same Loopy Loyalty username is being used across multiple locations. It allows you to analyze usage patterns across different branches or events. It does not track the location of the customer's phone.
Recommendation: Enable this if you want to understand the geographic distribution of your loyalty program activity. It's useful for multi-location businesses. Be mindful that this tracks the location of the stamper app and not the customer's device. You do not need to inform customers that you are collecting this data, as it is related to your app's usage, not their personal information. However, transparency is always good practice, so you may wish to mention it in your privacy policy.
Ultimately, the best settings for the Loopy Loyalty stamper app depend on your specific needs and preferences. We encourage you to experiment with all of these settings. Try enabling and disabling different combinations to see what works best for your business and your staff. You might find that some settings are essential, while others are less important in your particular context. By testing them out, you can optimize the app for maximum efficiency and ease of use, ensuring a smooth and successful loyalty program experience.
