Training a new team member: a 5-minute Stamper app walkthrough

A quick checklist for training a new team member to scan, stamp, and redeem.

Written by Nyi Nyi Zaw

Onboarding a new team member and need a fast way to get them ready for a shift?

Walk them through five things - scanning a card, adding a stamp, redeeming a reward, what a scan error looks like, and where Enrol Customer lives - and they're ready to work a shift on their own.

Before you start

  • When you'd need this: onboarding a new hire, or covering the basics for someone who's never used the app before.

  • What you'll need: the device already signed in and ready to scan, and a test card or a willing colleague to practice on.

Steps

  1. Show them the Home screen: tap the circular scan button, then scan a card's QR code.

  2. On Card details, show them the − and + buttons to adjust stamps, then tap Submit to save it.

  3. If a reward is available, show them the toggle under "Rewards available" before tapping Submit.

  4. Scan an invalid or already-used code on purpose so they see what an error looks like, and show them Try Again.

  5. Open the ⋮ menu and point out Enrol Customer - this is how they sign up a walk-in customer who doesn't have a card yet.

💡 There's no in-app tutorial This checklist and the individual how-to articles are the only training material, so it's worth doing this walkthrough in person rather than assuming it's self-explanatory.

Good to know

  • For the full list of what each error message means, see "Common scan and connection errors, and what they mean."

  • Team-member logins (separate from a shared store login) can't reach in-app chat support - they're redirected to the account owner instead. Worth mentioning up front so it doesn't look like something's broken.

  • Once they're comfortable, point new staff at Settings - Vibrate, Beep, and Zoom level are all things they can tune to their own preference without asking a manager.
