Trying to decide whether Remain logged in and Biometric unlock should be on or off for your device?
Both settings live under Settings → Authentication. Remain logged in (on by default) keeps a shared device signed in between shifts. Biometric unlock (off by default) lets one person skip typing their password using their device's own Face or Fingerprint unlock - leave it off on a device more than one person uses.
Before you start

Remain logged in - for deciding whether a shared device should stay signed in between shifts, or if staff are being logged out more often than expected.
Biometric unlock - for a personal device you use for scanning, once your device's own Face or Fingerprint unlock is already set up at the Android system level. The app checks against whatever your phone already recognizes; it doesn't collect or store biometric data itself.
Settings → Authentication.
Remain logged in
With this on (the default), the app automatically signs you back in behind the scenes whenever your session expires - you almost never have to type your password again. It stores your login securely on the device so the app can re-authenticate automatically; it isn't just "stay on the login screen," it's a real, working re-login. Turn it off and you'll need to log in manually every time your session times out.
⚠️ Auto re-login isn't guaranteed If it ever fails, you'll still see a Session Expired message and have to log in manually once.
Biometric unlock
Open ⋮ menu → Settings → Authentication.
Turn on Biometric unlock.
Confirm with your face or fingerprint when prompted - this verifies it's working before the toggle actually turns on.
Turning it back off is immediate and doesn't need re-confirmation.

This is a per-device setting, not tied to your account - turning it on here doesn't change anything on a different phone signed into the same login. If your device has no Face or Fingerprint unlock configured at all, the app has nothing to check against - set that up in your Android Settings first.

💡 Why not Biometric on a shared device? Biometric unlocks with whoever's face or fingerprint the device already recognizes - turning it on for a shared device means only the person who set it up can actually get back in.
Good to know
Both settings are per-device - changing either one here doesn't affect any other phone signed into the same account.
Most merchants never need to touch either setting: the defaults (Remain logged in on, Biometric off) already fit a typical shared store device.
