Definition: A beacon is a small Bluetooth device that repeatedly transmits a signal that other Bluetooth-enabled devices can see.

Beacons can be battery powered or USB powered and can be purchased from a number of different providers. (Please note Loopy Loyalty does not provide or sell Beacon hardware).

How beacons work with Apple Wallet

Display a lock screen message when your customers:

  1. Have your digital stamp card installed in Apple Wallet,

  2. Have bluetooth turned on, and

  3. Are in range (up to 70 meters) of your beacon.

Note: beacon messages are not supported on Google Wallet.

How to set up beacons with your Loopy Loyalty digital stamp cards

Log in to your account and click on the 'Settings' icon. Scroll down and click 'Add Beacon' to add your beacon details.

Enter your UUID. Two options here:

  1. Type in a string (e.g. GemTot USB) to generate a UUID.

2. Type in your beacon's UUID (with the hyphens in the proper places). Your UUID should appear in the UUID input field.

Enter your beacon's major and minor values (if any) and click on 'Create Beacon' to save this beacon.

Navigate to your existing card design or create a new one. Click on the pencil icon and click on the 'More' tab at the top. Scroll down and you'll see the beacon you've just saved. Click on the purple '+' icon.

Enter a message you want to display on your customers' lock screen when they are near that beacon.

This is what a beacon notification will look like on your customers' lock screen. One swipe will open their digital stamp card straight away.

Remember, in order for beacon messages to display, your customers must:

  1. Have your digital stamp card installed in Apple Wallet,

  2. Have bluetooth turned on,

  3. Be on the lock screen, and

  4. Are in range (up to 70 meters) of your beacon.
